2nd Malaysian National Amateur Athletic Championships 1965

Some 51 years ago, Singapore was still a state within Malaysia and had the honour of hosting the Inter-State Athletic Championships.

Interestingly, Dr Mani Jegathesan who had by then spent 10 years living in Singapore (he was an ACS boy and later went to NUS Med School) represented the State of Singapore and was in the relay team w C Kunalan... What a team that must have been!

Will post more pictures of this historic programme soon but if you noticed, this meet was held just a week plus before Singapore separated from Malaysia, to be an independent nation... #SingaporeSportingMemorabilia

Held 1 week plus before separation!

2 Singapore Athletics stalwarts were in the MAAU Council till 1966 - Goh Teck Phuan who was a Sports Promotion Officer at the Ministry of Culture and A.T. Rajah (father of current MP, MOS Indranee Rajah)
